Feature Ideas is where you capture, evaluate, and prioritize potential features for your product.

The Feature Ideas section helps you:
- Capture ideas from any source — team, customers, research
- Evaluate potential with structured assessment
- Prioritize effectively based on value and effort
- Track progress from idea to release
The Idea Lifecycle
💡 Idea → 🔍 Consideration → ✏️ Refinement → 🚀 In Progress → ✅ ReleasedStatuses

| In Consideration | Being evaluated for potential |

Creating Ideas
Quick Add
- Navigate to Product → Feature Ideas
- Click + New Idea
- Enter a title
- The idea is created in Backlog status
Detailed Creation
For more complete ideas:
- Click + New Idea
- Fill in the form:
- Title — Clear, descriptive name
- Description — What this feature does
- Category — Group related ideas
- Priority — Low, Medium, High, Critical
- Click Create
From Research
Turn research insights into ideas:
- In Research Notes, select text
- Click Create Feature Idea
- The idea is created with linked context
From Browser Extension
Capture ideas while browsing:
- Click the Molley extension
- Select Add Idea
- Enter details
- Saved to your Feature Ideas
Idea Details
Click any idea to view and edit its details:
Overview Tab
- Title — Feature name
- Description — Rich text description
- Status — Current lifecycle stage
- Priority — Importance level
- Category — Grouping tag
Requirements Tab
Break down the idea into requirements:
- Add specific requirements
- Track requirement status
- Estimate effort
Comments
Discuss the idea with your team:
- Add comments
- @mention team members
- Track discussion history
AI Assistance
Improve Ideas
Click the AI Assist button to:
- Expand brief descriptions
- Suggest user stories
- Identify potential challenges
- Recommend related features
Generate Ideas
Ask Molley to suggest features:
- "What features would help our target audience?"
- "Suggest features based on our competitive analysis"
- "What's missing from our product?"
Context Awareness
When helping with ideas, Molley knows:

Group ideas by category:

Priority Levels

Evaluation Criteria
Consider these factors:

- Effort — How much work is required?
- Risk — What could go wrong?
- Dependencies — What else is needed?
Moving Ideas Forward
To Consideration
When an idea is worth evaluating:
- Open the idea
- Change status to In Consideration
- Add evaluation notes
- Discuss with team
To Refinement
When approved for development:
- Change status to In Refinement
- Add detailed requirements
- Create specifications in Product Wiki
- Estimate effort
To In Progress
When development starts:
- Change status to In Progress
- Track in Feature Kanban
- Update requirements as work progresses
To Released
When shipped:
- Change status to Released
- Add release notes
- Celebrate! 🎉
Archiving Ideas
Not every idea makes it:
- Open the idea
- Click Archive
- Add a note explaining why
- The idea moves to Feature Archive
Archived ideas are preserved for reference — you might revisit them later.
Best Practices
1. Capture Everything
Don't filter too early:
- Write down all ideas
- Evaluate later
- Good ideas can come from anywhere
2. Be Specific
Clear descriptions help evaluation:
- ✅ "Add CSV export for reports with date filtering"
- ❌ "Export feature"
3. Link Context
Connect ideas to their source:
- Link to research notes
- Reference customer feedback
- Include competitor examples
4. Regular Review
Keep your backlog healthy:
- Review ideas weekly
